
Well, Almost! The Beta version screenshots have hit the internet and it looks like Microsoft is learning more and more from Apple everyday. The new desktop widgets resemble Apple’s desktop apps and although the task bar is still in its’ usual place, the screen shots indicate that you can basically replace it with a docking station ala’ the Mac dock.

Microsoft is scrapping the Vista OS and Windows 7 actually looks to be the upgrade that XP deserves (after 8 years), it’s finally a secure, stable and usable OS. I do spend way more time on the Ubuntu Linux side of my system (<--Try Linux without affecting your Windows installation), since I tend to do a bit of Internet development and server administration (and Linux is KING there). Every once in a while, though, I just need to load up some XP games and blow off some steam.

While I don’t expect Windows 7 to win me back from Linux, I imagine that the computer support departments in every major corporation are taking a long deep breath after getting their heads up above the dark murky water that was Vista. Well hey, at least Mac users had a period where they could Neh, Neh the Windows crowd and get a few converts in the process.
